The Director of Virtual Design and Construction in our Birmingham branch is responsible for developing processes, infrastructure, and teams to manage the use of Virtual Design & Construction models for construction projects. They oversee the organization and preparation of models for use in quantity takeoffs, coordinate BIM instructions with preconstruction and operations teams, and facilitate regular BIM coordination. They also manage the preparation of coordination drawings and support the process of procuring future projects. The Virtual Design and Construction Field Detailer interfaces with field construction personnel to coordinate installation with VDC, communicates progress to the VDC department, and creates red-lined/as-built drawings. They audit installations for accuracy, maintain records and documentation, and troubleshoot installation issues. The Virtual Design and Construction Manager recruits, trains, and manages direct reports, provides guidance and mentoring, and manages workload distribution. They stay up to date with developing technologies, manage VDC meetings, and develop VDC standards and best practices. The Virtual Design and Construction Project Coordinator cooperates and communicates effectively with management and team members, prepares and monitors weekly updates, and manages workload distribution. They coordinate with management and leads/superintendents to create and maintain project schedules, track program level metrics, and assist in project closeout. They also review drawings for quality assurance, meet with clients and project staff, and produce CAD drawings.
