As our employees in Aurora, our Sales Tax Compliance Specialists play a crucial role in providing support to internal customers for tax-related issues. They are responsible for reviewing tax certificates and/or tax packages to ensure accuracy and completeness. Additionally, they conduct tax research and provide interpretation and application of tax rules. They collaborate with Contract Admin to review sales tax application of job packages for accuracy and policy compliance. Acting as a liaison between the tax department and outside service providers or external vendors, they maintain current knowledge of changes in tax legislation, rulings, regulations, and litigation that may impact the business. They also identify, communicate, and conduct strategic audits/refunds to recover sales/use tax exposure amounts and overpayments. Furthermore, they handle requests from Operations and Sales regarding specific tax questions and provide guidance as needed. These individuals demonstrate leadership skills, possess a comprehensive knowledge of sales and use taxes, and document, monitor, evaluate, and update internal desktop procedures and process maps for compliance activities. They recommend, drive, and follow through on compliance process improvements to increase efficiencies and reduce tax exposure. Lastly, they actively participate in the sales and business licenses tax compliance segment of migrations for new systems by following established guidelines on how to apply tax to transactions.
