This person is tasked with anticipating vehicle needs to guarantee timely ordering, upfitting, and delivery, all while fostering an environment that supports rapid growth. They oversee maintenance and repairs in partnership with our fleet management company, developing strategies to keep fuel and repair costs within acceptable limits. Monitoring vehicle utilization through telematics solutions, conducting annual audits to assess vehicle conditions, and determining replacement priorities are key responsibilities. The Fleet Manager also cultivates vital relationships with vendors, including fleet management companies, OEMs, upfitters, and dealerships, focusing on vendor relations, cost negotiations, and addressing driver complaints effectively. Researching innovative methods and vendors to enhance our fleet's operation—such as exploring electric vehicle solutions—is part of their duty to ensure our fleet meets compliance standards like DOT and EPA regulations. Collaboration with the Safety and HR teams to improve fleet safety and minimize accident-related costs is essential. Additionally, this role involves supporting continuous improvement projects, approving driver qualifications according to our Fleet Policy, supervising and mentoring Fleet Coordinators, and generating department reports and KPI trackers.
