What duties do our System Development employees do at our IES Communications' Eugene Branch?

The Director of System Development in Eugene is responsible for overseeing all technology operations and evaluating them according to established goals. They devise and establish policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management. They analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs and provide support for existing systems as needed. The Director also identifies the need for upgrades, configurations, or new systems and reports to upper management. They build a network of peers with knowledge of our ERP solution and maintain strong relationships with key leaders across the organization. Additionally, they communicate with and influence internal and external stakeholders regarding key project objectives to ensure buy-in. The Director works with stakeholders and technical resources to align technology solutions with business strategies and represents the development vision to the business. They analyze performance results to identify bottlenecks and suggest optimizations, have an end-to-end understanding of the business, and observe, evaluate, and document existing business processes and requirements. They provide support to users, troubleshoot application and business process issues, and provide training. Development activities including analysis, design, coding, data migration, and testing for production and development environments are also part of their responsibilities. The Director is responsible for managing project governance, monitoring projects from initiation through delivery, and driving accountability for project success. They set project objectives, drive the requirements and project definition process, schedule project deliverables and milestones, and understand and anticipate the direction of the business area. They make policy recommendations and plans in line with the Strategic IT plan and business requirements, identify and mitigate potential problems and conflicts with development delivery, and seek opportunities to enhance and streamline processes. Other responsibilities may be assigned as well.
