What will you do as a Fiber Optic Technician at one of IES Communications' New Mexico Branches?

At our New Mexico branches, the role of a Fiber Optic Technician encompasses a broad range of tasks including cabling and termination, with responsibilities extending from basic copper termination skills to complex fiber optic connector installations like LC, SC, ST, FC, and more. This technician is tasked with installing work area outlets, building closets, adhering to IES COMMUNICATIONS labeling standards, grounding equipment, completing IDC connections, performing various testing and troubleshooting using tools such as OTDRs, and executing both mechanical and fusion splicing across different types of fiber cable.

The Lead Fiber Optic Technician, while sharing many duties with the Fiber Optic Technician, notably takes on additional leadership responsibilities by running major project crews, ensuring adherence to safety and quality guidelines, coordinating with Project Managers for job completion and productivity, and providing necessary training. Both roles require meticulous attention to detail in installation, testing, splicing, and compliance with TIA/EIA standards for multimode and single-mode fiber, along with thorough documentation through IES paperwork processes, highlighting our commitment to excellence in every aspect of our operations in New Mexico.
